Coming soon to a cinema near you! Valletta’s Embassy Complex to become hotel in 2019
Better get your shopping done ASAP, because Valletta’s Embassy Complex is closing its doors for works to start as early as 7th January. But why, you ask? An 81-room four star hotel will be built on the existing top floors of the Embassy Complex. But... but... the cinema?! Don’t panic just yet. Reports say that the cinemas will be shifted to lower levels of the complex, so you’ll still be able to get your Hollywood fix!

So, what should we expect from the new hotel?
The project is expected to be completed in 2019, with the cinema halls shifted to lower levels, and a total of two floors of commercial outlets. The four-star hotel’s entrance will be on Strait Street, just round the corner from the complex, and will include a pool and breakfast area at roof level and a central courtyard... #bougie. The complex, however, will retain its current entrance on St Lucy Street, just round the corner from the Law Courts.

Fun fact: the complex was formerly a 19th century hotel until it got partially destroyed in one of those pesky World War II air-raids. In the 1950s, it opened as a cinema and in 1999 it was re-built as the shopping and cinema complex we know today.
