Busy travel week! Malta International Airport advises against arriving too early
Heading off this week? Avoid the rush!

Francesca Vella

As one of Malta’s busiest travel weeks is well underway, Malta International Airport is advising travellers not to turn up too early for their flights, in a bid to ease crowding at the Departures terminal.

With a significant passenger flow expected over the coming days, the airport recommends arriving around two hours before your scheduled departure – enough time to check in your luggage, clear security, and even enjoy a relaxed coffee or browse the shops before boarding.

It’s also a good idea to factor in possible traffic delays on the way, especially during peak hours, and to plan journeys accordingly. Arriving too far in advance, however, could contribute to congestion inside the terminal during this exceptionally busy period. So if you do happen to arrive early, you might want to enjoy a snack in the food court or a browse in the shops downstairs before making your way up to Departures.

Safe travels!
