On Friday, American bestselling author Chris Kuzneski published his book The Malta Escape, just two years after visiting the island. The story is a thrilling one that takes readers on a rollercoaster adventure almost entirely set in Malta.
This book marks the author's ninth publication in the Payne & Jones series, which made Kuzneski famous. With pages filled with adventure and crime, The Malta Escape follows Payne and Jones, who are involved in a showdown against a Russian criminal seeking to locate a long-lost treasure belonging to the Knights Hospitallers, believed to be buried in Malta. The duo tries to locate one of the most important treasures of antiquity while battling one of the world’s most dangerous criminals in a deadly fight to the finish!
Three years ago, together with bestselling authors Graham Brown and Boyd Morrison, Kuzneski visited Malta’s tourist sites, many of which are featured in his novel. They were given access to several of the island's most important documents and historical areas by the Malta Tourism Authority, with both Morrison and Brown also having published books with Malta as their story setting.
The Malta Escape features many well-known locations around Malta, with Kuzneski wanting to feature as much of the island and its history as possible. Major sites include the National Library, the Upper Barakka Gardens, the Grand Harbour, Sliema and Birgu. Kuzneski, who fell in love with Malta (and how could he not?), urges everyone who has never been to the island to do so, to experience first hand the places he wrote about.
