The Mediterranean yachting season is in full swing, and Malta just welcomed one of the world’s most show-stopping vessels. Docked at the Grand Harbour Marina in Vittoriosa (Birgu) and stealing the spotlight is the Mayan Queen IV – a 93-metre floating masterpiece valued at an estimated €175 million. With its gleaming lines and towering decks, this luxury superyacht presents quite the commanding presence.

The Mayan Queen IV was built by legendary German shipyard Blohm + Voss and launched in 2008. It was originally commissioned by Alberto Baillères, the late Mexican billionaire and business magnate who passed away in 2022 at the age of 90.

Designed for both privacy and indulgence, the Mayan Queen IV showcases exterior styling by Tim Heywood and interiors by iconic designer Terence Disdale, whose clientele includes royalty and global tycoons. The yacht reportedly boasts a helipad, a full wellness centre, an onboard swimming pool, sprawling lounge decks with panoramic views, and opulent accommodations for guests and crew alike.

Whether spotted gliding past Fort St Angelo or moored against the historic bastions of Vittoriosa, the vessel is a beauty to behold, so if you’re strolling the Vittoriosa waterfront this week, keep an eye on the horizon!
