These are some of the most iconic spots for a been-there-done-that-got-the-selfie feel.
When you visit a fantastic place, it's only natural you want to show all your social media friends where you've been (and hopefully spark a little bit of envy in them too!) In such cases, the selfie is mandatory! So, where should you go in Malta to get those perfect enviable shots? Here are a few ideas.
1. By the sea
We've all been envious of those who sport 'Baywatch' shorts while sipping on an Aperol Spritz on a sailing boat, with Malta's gorgeous sea sparkling in the background. Granted, this selfie looks like it could only be taken in the summer... but it doesn't have to be. There are warm, sunny days in winter in Malta - days on which you can go sailing too!
2. With a view of the Valletta skyline
This epic selfie with a view of the classic Valletta Skyline in the background can be taken on dry land, or while you're swimming in the bay. Just head to the Sliema Ferries or Manoel Island to create your version.
3. By the Triton Fountain
The Triton Fountain outside Valletta's city gate is both iconic and monumental. Slip your travel mascot into the selfie for added flavour.
4. Anywhere in Valletta
Valletta is the place to be and every corner and street in the capital makes for a perfect backdrop to an awesome selfie! And if it's Maltese balconies that attract you, you'll find these in any Maltese town or village.
5. Fort St Angelo from Upper Barrakka Gardens
History has never seemed so alive in shots with Fort St Angelo (and possibly the Three Cities) in the frame, taken from the Upper Barrakka Garden in Valletta.
6. Outside a Maltese church
Malta churches are also pretty awesome. Whether you want to snap the rooftops or the interiors, the result will definitely be fascinating.
7. Inside St John's Co-Cathedral
The spectacular interiors of St John's Co-Cathedral will definitely make you whip out that phone! But, be warned: it will be almost impossible to outshine this church's beauty!
8. At Riviera Bay
The selfie stick makes a huge difference to how much of the panorama you can fit inside your frame. This guy did a really good job of it though, and managed to get a view of one of Malta's most pristine beaches: Riviera.
9. Beside the Blue Lagoon in Comino
Granted, this is not a selfie but it kind of counts as one, right? Those could be your feet and that your hand holding up an exotic pineapple in front of an enviable backdrop of the pure turquoise waters which characterise the Blue Lagoon in Comino.
10. A tribute to: the Azure Window!
Right, this one's not an option anymore since the Azure Window now lies on the seabed. But it was, once, the most iconic selfie to be had on the Maltese Islands. So here's a tribute to it.
Why don't you send us your most unusual yet completely awesome Malta selfie? We may just feature your photo in another article.
