Beachin’ it! 10 bays to visit in Malta & Gozo based on the current weather forecast
We’ll FINALLY be getting our tan on!

Jillian Mallia

Sun’s out, buns out! It’s beginning to feel a lot like summer, and we cannot be more excited to hit the beach and get our much-needed tan on! And according to Maltese Islands Weather, these are just some of the recommended bays to head to based on this weekend’s sunny weather.

1. Ghajn Tuffieha

Head down those some 200 steps (they’re worth it, I promise!) to Ghajn Tuffieha Bay. Usually a packed beach, Ghajn Tuffieha, meaning Apple’s Eye, is a great beach to head to.

2. Fomm ir-Rih

Along the northern coast, Fomm ir-Rih is a gorgeous swimming spot not to miss out on. Even if you decide not to take a dip this weekend, this location is perfect for some photography experimentation.

3. Golden Bay

The golden sands at Golden Bay (hence the name) attract various tourists and locals every summer. And judging by this weekend’s glorious weather forecast, it might very well be a packed beach.

4. Mistra Bay

The northern bay in Xemxija is often well protected from the wintry elements due to its enclosed nature. The little bay is not as popular as the larger, sandy ones on the island, but it’s definitely worth a visit for some quiet time.

5. Ramla l-Hamra

Gozo’s gorgeous red sandy bay is a popular choice among locals and visitors. You can even visit the legendary Calypso’s Cave while you’re there!

6. Xlendi

Another stunning spot on Malta’s sister isle is Xlendi. This pebbly beach is perfect a quick dip before heading to one of the many restos around the bay.

7. Dahlet Qorrot

This small bay can be found between the Gozitan towns of Qala and Nadur. The tiny rocky beach is another spot for some quiet time to get away from it all.

8. Dwejra

Another obvious choice when in Gozo. Formerly the site of the grand Azure Window, Dwejra still has a lot to offer. Head down to the beautiful shores for a quick swim this weekend!

9. Rinella Bay

Rinella Bay in Kalkara is a tiny and secluded sandy beach that not many people visit. It’s one of two bays leading to the Grand Harbour and the views are stunning!
