Be careful! Heavy overnight dewfall causing slippery conditions on Maltese roads
Although it might easily be confused with rain it’s actually dew.

Malta might not have witnessed a lot or rain this last December but nonetheless, the islands have still been experiencing heavy overnight dewfall.

In fact, Maltese Islands Weather reported that out of the “measly 5.7 mm of 'rain' this December”, a whopping “1.8 mm of this has come from dew”.

This results into roads looking as if it has rained throughout the night but it’s only dewfall.

However, this can be quite dangerous to drivers…

“The dust on roads mixes with the dew to form a slushy 'paste'. This forms a barrier between vehicle tyres and the road, creating very slippery conditions”, Maltese Islands Weather explained.

Such dewfall has significantly increased over the past week, averaging at 93 percent. In fact, certain localities across Malta and Gozo have measured up to 0.4mm of overnight dewfall precipitation.
