Valletta’s Oratory of the Onorati, found adjacent to the Jesuits’ College in Valletta is open once again for visitors after months of restoration and it looks spectacular!

The oratory was built all the way back in 1613, during the time of the Knights of St John here in Malta but it was remodelled once again between the years 1657-59.

Its main purpose was to serve as a congregation for students from the Jesuits’ College which later ended up becoming the University of Malta.

The Oratory of the Onorati is covered in a cycle of paintings depicting the life of the Virgin Mary. They were painted by the artists Stefano and Alessio Eradi.

After months of work, the Jesuits’ Church foundation will be holding their first concert in this splendid baroque venue on Wednesday, 22nd November 2023 for St Cecilia’s Day. ‘Cecilia’s Legacy: Women in Song’ will be a concert full of all-female composers with mezzo soprano Francesca Bartolo together with pianist Julia Miller.
