B'Bugia is that you? Old picture from the '50s shows a different side to the seaside town
It's unrecognizeable!

A recently unearthed picture, dating back to the '50s, shows a more quite, quotidian side to the bustling town. Taken near the waterfront, an old ship can be seen in the background as a handful of people take a stroll in the street.

Interestingly, no high-rise buildings can be spotted - a common feature nowadays in Malta. As for clothes, men can be seen wearing suits and hats, a popular fashion at the time.

At the time, the Malta Freeport, now situated in an adjacent bay had not yet been built. The construction of the port in 1988 brought an influx of local and foreign workers to the area.

A completely different time back then!
