Autumn’s here! October to bring more storms, strong winds & real feel of 15°C across Malta & Gozo
Hold onto your umbrellas!

After a stormy weekend, the sunshine may have returned – but autumn is officially making its presence felt across the Maltese Islands. October looks like it will be bringing cooler temperatures, unsettled skies, and a fresh dose of wind and rain.

While today (29th September) and tomorrow are expected to remain warm and bright, the weather is forecast to change by mid-week. On Wednesday 1st October, isolated evening thunderstorms are likely, with a 60% chance of rainfall ranging between 3mm and 12mm.

Following the stormy spells, strong north-westerly winds reaching force 6 are expected to sweep over Malta and Gozo from Thursday 2nd October through Friday 3rd October. Those planning sea trips – or still keeping boats moored out at sea – are advised to take extra caution.

The winds will also usher in a noticeable drop in temperatures. By Thursday night, the mercury is set to dip to a brisk 15°C, the lowest minimum Malta has experienced in months. Daytime highs will follow suit, falling to around 23°C, compared to the balmy 28°C highs of recent days.

So as the islands transition away from summer’s heat, it may finally be time to dig out those cozy jumpers, embrace the cooler breeze, and start looking forward to pumpkin spice lattes and Halloween festivities.

Autumn in Malta – bring it on!
