Attention tuna lovers! Festa Tonn returns to Marsaskala for a celebration of Malta’s fishing heritage
The seaside town of Marsaskala is set to host the second edition of Festa Tonn on Saturday, June 13, following the success of last year’s inaugural event. The festival will take place along Triq ix-Xatt between 5:00pm and 11:00pm and is being organised by the Parliamentary Secretariat for Fisheries, Aquaculture and Animal Rights together with the Marsaskala Local Council.
Festa Tonn aims to celebrate Malta’s fishing industry, with a particular focus on the tuna sector, while also raising awareness about sustainable fishing practices, Malta’s maritime heritage, and the identity of the country’s coastal communities.
Visitors attending the event can look forward to a lively programme of activities designed for the whole family. The festival will feature food stands offering tuna-based dishes and local products, exhibitions showcasing Maltese crafts, live music performances, educational activities, and a dedicated children’s area. Voluntary organisations and exhibitors connected to the maritime sector and local community will also be taking part.
Organisers said initiatives such as Festa Tonn continue to strengthen ties between communities and the fishing sector while promoting sustainable and locally sourced products.
