World Environment Day! Step into nature and history at Għar Dalam’s environmental celebration
Nature lovers, families, and curious explorers are invited to celebrate World Environment Day at Għar Dalam on the 6th of June between 9am and 5pm.
For the very first time, a wide range of environmental NGOs and organisations will come together within the beautiful endemic gardens surrounding the historic site. Set against the unique backdrop of the prehistoric cave, museum, and Natura 2000 area, the event promises a full day dedicated to learning more about Malta’s environment, biodiversity, flora, and fauna.
Visitors will have the opportunity to interact with exhibits and participate in hands-on educational activities designed for all ages. Those attending can also explore the fascinating Ice Age fauna displayed inside the museum and discover what Malta’s natural environment looked like before human settlement.
Guests may also book guided tours of Wied Dalam, where they can witness ongoing ecological restoration projects and learn more about conservation efforts in the valley.
Older children can take part in a special palaeontology-inspired activity, allowing them to uncover and record artefacts in interactive simulation pits.
The event offers a unique opportunity to connect with nature while celebrating the importance of environmental protection and sustainability.
