Whatsapp and iOS hacking incidents have been making the rounds recently, with many being tricked into sharing codes or suffering from bugs.

According to 9to5Mac, Apple have released a support document in which it said the new iOS 14.4 update fixes three vulnerabilities that “may have been actively exploited.” It said it affected iPhone 6s and later, iPaid Air 2 and later, iPod touch (7th generation) and iPad mini 4 and later.

Irish News also reported the incident, adding that one warning read: "A remote attacker may be able to cause arbitrary code execution."

It is unclear as to who or what the target was or who is exploiting the vulnerabilities. No further information has been provided at this time and details about the vulnerabilities in question will be provided in the future, once an investigation has taken place.

Yesterday, Cyber Security Malta warned of hacking incidents and advises locals to be cautious. “If you do get a suspicious message from a friend, try ringing them to see if you can talk to them in person and verify what is going on. It’s also advisable to turn on two-step verification so your WhatsApp is also protected by a PIN."
