Despite health authorities' best efforts, people did not show up for their appointment
Despite health authorities' relentless efforts to ensure Malta stays ahead of the Coronavirus, around 200 people did not show up for a scheduled COVID-19 testing appointment over the weekend, a recent Times of Malta article revealed.
The no-shows were split over Friday and Saturday, where approximately 100 patients missed their appointment on Friday with a similar figure noted on Saturday.
Prof. Charmaine Gauci addressed this situation during Sunday's press conference: "We are doing our work, our staff is waiting for you whether it is the weekend or not," she explained. "We still keep going with our work. If you call and are given an appointment, it is important that you attend."
Prof. Gauci also emphasized the importance of following through on testing: "We have to remember that if you had symptoms and you're not feeling anything, it is still important to get tested once symptoms began," she said.
Should you feel any symptoms, you are advised to call on 111 to schedule a testing appointment.
