She discusses why swab tests were a little less this weekend.
In today's press conference, the Superintendent of Public Health appealed to the public to keep their swabbing appointments even at the weekend. She shared that yesterday 787 swabs were done while yesterday 972 were carried out. These are numbers lower than the over 1,000 mark they've been hitting in the past days. She said that it seems that locals aren't sticking to their appointments at the weekend.
People who call 111 are given an appointment to go get tested. Prof. Gauci noted that it might be that they feel their symptoms have subsided, and so don't attend the appointment. These people are being contacted accordingly. "We have to remember that if you had symptoms and you're not feeling anything, it is still important to get tested once symptoms began." She said that even if you're feeling better, you might still be able to pass on the virus at this stage.
"We are doing our work, our staff is waiting for you whether it is the weekend or not," she shares. "We still keep going with our work. If you call and are given an appointment, it is important that you attend."
