A waterspout was spotted by an eagle-eyed local

A photo taken in Gozo shared to Facebook page Malta Weather shows what appears to be a waterspout forming over Gozo’s sea, far out from land.

Such columns of air often originate from stormy skies, and are commonly referred to as tornadoes over water.

Over the past hour, showers have been reported across Malta and Gozo, and weather pages are advising of another storm which could potentially make land in several parts of the island.

Has bad weather reached your locality yet?
