Anyone up for a picnic? Hal Farrug is getting a new park
Looks like picnic Sundays will soon be a thing for Luqa residents.

Don’t you just love seeing wasted spaces being put to good use?

An abandoned area of 2,000 square meters in Hal Farrug is finally getting some much-needed TLC by being turned into an open space for all to enjoy.

Hal Farrug

Fancy a pit stop?

The park’s set to have a number of benches scattered around for anyone looking to sit and enjoy the view or have a quick bite to eat with loved ones.

Of course, its design will also keep in mind the general public’s safety.

This spot’s set to be closed off by a fence and equipped with security cameras, thus making sure that the kiddos are always out of harm’s way.

To encourage recycling, waste separation containers will be made easily accessible throughout the park, leaving the public with no other choice but to put their recycling skills to good use.

We love a sustainable park!

In order to keep the park nice and green all year round, the park will benefit from an irrigation system connected to a reservoir that will water trees and plants with collected water.

As for the lights – these will only go on when there is no sunlight outside. Waste not, want not, right?

This project is a collaboration involving the Luqa Local Council and Parks Malta, with Parks Malta being tasked with the maintenance and upkeep of the area.

Will you be visiting this new park?
