In a heartwarming twist of fate, the story of Hellie, the hedgehog who captured hearts with her harrowing rescue, has taken a surprising turn.

Hellie was found trapped in the water in a valley in Victoria, tirelessly swimming for hours. It was a race against time as rescuers hurried to free her from this dangerous situation.

Once safely retrieved from the water, Hellie was taken into rehabilitation with our volunteers, who carefully monitored her condition. The ordeal had taken its toll on the brave hedgehog, and with the water she had been swimming in being extremely dirty, there were concerns about potential infections.

However, as fate would have it, there was more to Hellie's story than initially met the eye. To everyone's surprise, it was discovered that Hellie was pregnant. And on a beautiful evening last week, she welcomed three precious little hoglets into the world. Although one of the hoglets sadly passed away shortly after birth, her remaining two babies are thriving.

Hellie's resilience is nothing short of remarkable and it looks like she is an incredible fighter. This heartwarming story serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of every life, no matter how small. When Hellie was rescued on that fateful Saturday, little did anyone know that they were not only saving her life but also the lives of her unborn babies.
