Amazing! Local org will be kicking off a sweet scheme this week to help cancer patients
This local organisation is doing something that has never been done on our islands to make cancer patients’ lives a little brighter when going through chemotherapy. Back in September, we spoke to Josette Frendo, mother of the late Jerome Frendo and founder of the Smiling With Jerome foundation, who told us about their initiative: introducing chemo bags for cancer patients.
And now, Josette has taken to Facebook to announce the fantastic news that the chemo bags will begin being distributed starting this week. “CHEMO BAGS OF HOPE will be distributed at SAMOC to the inpatients for the first time in Malta next Wednesday 11th December by Smiling With Jerome Foundation (NGO),” she announced in a recent post.
“Each bag costs us €25 but we are giving them for free to young and senior patients because WE CARE! We are planning to visit more patients in Malta and Gozo next year, but we need your help too. Please donate so that we keep on spreading hope one bag at a time.” What a legend!
These bags of hope, as they are being called, are aimed at making the long hours of treatment more bearable, and include comfort items like: a lap blanket, colouring book/puzzle, hand sanitiser and tissues, lollipops, stuffed animal, lip balm, water and a stress ball.
Smiling With Jerome is always looking for help, be it volunteers or donations. Check out their Facebook page for more information!
