All ferries to Sicily have been CANCELLED today - but what about the Gozo Channel?
If you were heading up to Sicily, we’ve got a bit of bad news. This morning, Virtu Ferries announced that all voyages to Sicily have been cancelled “due to unfavourable sea conditions.” No one likes to feel sea sick…

However, they did inform the public that tomorrow, Thursday 6th February, they will be organising extra trips as follows:
1. VR100 Dep. Mla 8.30am Arr. Pozz 10.15am (amended)
2. VR111 Dep. Pozz 12pm (noon) Arr. Mla 1.45pm hrs (extra/amended)
3. VR110 Dep. Mla 6pm Arr. Pozz 7.45pm (extra)
4. VR101 Dep. Pozz 9.30pm Arr. Mla 11.15pm (scheduled)
All this is because of the strong winds that are currently blowing on the Maltese Islands. The Met Office have also released a weather warning on their website. “The Northwest wind, which will veer North Northwest will be very strong over the Maltese Islands, occasionally reaching gale force in exposed areas. Valid till 10 o’clock tonight and will be renewed accordingly.”
We did check with Gozo Channel and we’ve got some good news. They’re operating as usual! So if you’re heading up to Gozo today, no changes in the schedule have been made. It's business as usual.
Stay safe out there, folks!
