Adventure awaits! Here's why a little rain shouldn't stop you from exploring Malta
Do you even own a raincoat?

Kristina Cassar Dowling

Ah, Malta and rain…a match made in heaven? Sometimes, when the rain hits, we fare quite well, but other times…it’s a little bit chaotic. Your best bet in avoiding this jungle-like behaviour is to stay home and binge watch the reruns of your favourite TV show, right? NO! Live it up and enjoy the wet weather. All you need is the right attitude and a pair of wellies. Here are a few things to look out for when the heavens decide to pour down.

Follow the rainbow

If you’re not too keen on the rain ruining your hairdo, head out of the house once it stops, but be quick! You’ll want to catch the rainbow! Driving though the rain-kissed streets can be fun: the puddles, and the funny sights of pedestrians dodging tyre splashes are comedy gold.

The views are so much prettier

If you manage to get yourself a window seat in some snazzy cafe, you’ll have the most astounding view right in front of you. Your best bet - the most ideal - would be a comfy armchair by a window with a cup of tea or a delicious hot chocolate. Add a good book and a cosy scarf and you’ll be in heaven. Feels like home - less the washing up!

Get out, explore, be adventurous

Take to the streets, wear your best waterproof jacket, find a great countryside walk or even head to your favourite city - there should be no holding you back here. The only thing you’ll need to look out for is rain…but that’s obvious isn’t it?

Be a tourist… maybe even get lost

All those scenic touristy spots will probably be void of people but still full of character. These are the best places to visit on a gloomy, rainy day. You’ll get to appreciate more and more of the environment you’re in because it’s like you’re seeing it for the first time. You might even want to wander off somewhere completely unknown!

Storms can be fun

Just because a storm’s brewin’ doesn’t necessarily mean you’re bound to the confines of your living room - get out of the house and explore. Malta looks great in the heat of a storm - there’s so much going on, so much to look at and appreciate. Nature’s a wild force that never fails to impress.

Although little adventures in the rain can be fun, and should be fun, always be aware of your surroundings. Don’t go too crazy, so swimming is a no-no - we thought we'd best remind you of that.
