A yearly phenomenon! Incredible Pink Moon will be visible from Malta on Good Friday
Attention astronomy fans, you’re in for a treat this Good Friday! The fourth full moon of 2019, known as the Pink Moon, will provide a stunning display for stargazers around the world, and will be visible in Malta at around 1:12pm tomorrow.
Deriving its name from a wild flower called pink phlox that blooms at this time of year, the Pink Moon isn’t actually, well, pink, but occurs when the moon is located on the opposite side of the Earth as the sun, meaning its face is fully illuminated.
Also known by other names such as the Sprouting Grass Moon, the Egg Moon, and the full Fish Moon, tomorrow’s full moon appearance depends on where the moon is in its orbit around the Earth (which is why the actual time of the full moon can be in daylight for certain locations, like Malta!)
According to the farmer's Almanac, the full moon reaches peak fullness at around 1pm Western European Time in France, Italy and Spain, reaching its peak in Eastern Europe at around 2pm Eastern European Time.
In Malta, it should be visible at around 1:12pm, so wherever you are, remember to look up, and see if you can spot it!
