A heartfelt thanks from the Pitt family as little Luke undergoes major surgery in Florida
He’s “recovering beautifully.”

Remember Luke Pitt, the 5-year-old boy with neurofibromatosis type 1 who needed two serious operations on his leg? Well, he’s done it and is recovering beautifully!

In a post on the Facebook page A Better Life For Luke, his mama Audrey announced that his surgery was over and he’s recovering well. “Luke underwent a 3-hour surgery with Dr Paley yesterday and is recovering beautifully!” she said.

Audrey said that Luke’s surgery plans needed to be changed. “He had one longer surgery instead of two surgeries, as the ankle needed more work than he thought, very kindly Dr Paley didn’t charge for more,” she said, expressing her gratitude towards the kind doctor.

In the post, which features a pony named Cookie (yes, a feel-good pony in hospital!), Audrey thanked Dr Paley for his efforts. “We’re extremely grateful for everything Dr Paley has done for Luke and thanks to his advanced methods, Luke can have a life with no physical limitations and be able to participate in all sports.” Yay!

While he won’t be undergoing another operation next month, Luke’s journey doesn’t stop here. “Luke should need one more surgery when he reaches his teenage years, to change the telescopic rods one more time, which would then stay for life.”

“A huge thanks to everyone who has helped us in our very special journey, we couldn’t have got this far without the support and kindness of many people. Much love from thousands of miles away,” she said.

Stay strong, champ! Malta's rooting for you!
