Dwejra Tower, a landmark that has withstood the test of time, takes us on a nostalgic journey through history in a captivating black-and-white photograph dating back to 1946.

Shared by the Dwejra Tower Facebook page, this image showcases the tower's well-maintained rubble walls, its intact external stairs, albeit without handrails, and a small building adjacent to the tower.

The photograph, part of the digital 'Gozo Album' on the National Archives-Gozo Section's website, offers a fascinating peek into the past. Notably, the 'footprint' of the building outside the tower in 1946 remains visible today, providing a tangible link between Gozo's history and the present.

One can see that the distant Azure Window graces the backdrop, a feature that has since become a poignant memory after the natural wonder's unfortunate collapse.

What a timeless photograph!
