The Maltese islands are surrounded by gorgeous caves and underwater treasures just waiting for you to discover. Take a boat trip to one (or hey, all!) of these gorgeous sea caves around the islands.

1. Dwejra, Gozo

An obvious and unmissable choice is the Dwejra cave right next to where the gorgeous Azure Window once stood. Boat rides are available to take you through the cave. Don’t forget to duck!

2. Blue Grotto, Zurrieq

The gorgeous waters around Wied iz-Zurrieq in the Blue Grotto area is a sight for sore eyes. A boat ride round these incredible crevices and corners will definitely be a treat.

3. Xlendi Bay, Gozo

One of Malta’s sister isle’s most popular bays, Xlendi Bay, boasts incredible views of the deep blue.

4. Santa Marija, Comino

Santa Marija bay on one of Malta’s little sibling islands is a go-to bay in summer. However, the real gems are the caves, which are known to be a very popular dive site, seeing a number of locals and tourists visit every year.

5. Paradise Bay, Mellieha

The caves round Paradise Bay are incredible. Rent a paddle boat or kayak and venture round the bay to witness these beautiful sea shelters that are definitely worth a snap!

6. Calypso’s Cave at Ramla Bay, Gozo

Calypso’s cave naturally has a historical connection. The cave actually overlooks the red sands of Ramla l-Hamra and has an underlying sea cave. It is said that Calypso kept Odysseus as a “prisoner of love” in this very cave for seven years.

7. Ta’ Kalanka, Marsaxlokk

Ta’ Kalanka sea cave is one of the lesser known beauties in the southern seaside town of Marsaxlokk. The beautiful cave was carved into the rock and is now a great spot to relax on a beautiful summer’s day.
