5 things every Maltese 90s kid remembers about using Microsoft back in the day
Mr clippy was our fave!

It's throwback time! We’re throwing it way back to the times when, even though we did have computers, they didn’t have all the glitz and glam they do nowadays. If you’re a '90s kid, you’ll definitely remember these Microsoft shenanigans.

1. Mr Clippy

The paperclip would bounce on your screen giving you helpful tips on whatever it is you’re writing. He was cute company to have when writing up homework. Word also gave you the option of changing your office assistant. Just like Mr Paperclip, there was also Merlin the wise Word wizard who would help you out, among others included a red dot, a robot, the Office logo, mother nature, Office cat, Rocky and others.

2. Word Art was LIFE

This is bringing major nostalgia: a time when our biggest life decisions were choosing which Word Art font to use on our documents. Those were the days! 2010 saw a drastic (and shocking) change when Microsoft totally changed the vintage Word Art. Our hearts broke a little. But you can actually get it back with just a click of a button!

3. Ms Paint

Oh, the joys of the old Paint. Fireworks over buildings was a popular artwork on this version. The competition (especially in IT class) was who could make the nicest looking piece of art.

4. Free games

Sometimes the internet would just go bust (or your mum would need to make a phone call) and all you’d have left to entertain you was Pinball and Minesweeper. Pinball was always a quick one to while away the time, but Minesweeper was a real mind boggler.

5. The iconic startup sound

When Microsoft XP came around, it was like you were the richest fam in the neighbourhood. That shit was top. There’s nothing more nostalgic than the sound of Microsoft Windows starting up (and blasting through the speakers that you accidentally left on full volume).

Did you get the nostalgic feels?
