Picture this; you’re driving along on a Saturday afternoon; the sun is shining, your favourite song is playing on the radio - you feel like a million bucks and all of a sudden your stomach shouts out for help; it’s lunch time. Light bulb moment: let’s go for lunch! You think of where to go; finally pick your spot and glance at the rear-view mirror.

Thunder strikes as your pooch stares back at you, tongue hanging out of his mouth, eager to join you for lunch. Change of plans? No need. Head to these five pet friendly restaurants - specifically picked out for particular meals of the day.

Breakfast: Munchies, Mellieha

The perfect spot to gaze upon the splendid Ghadira Bay while munching on a deliciously prepared Eggs Benedict or any other breakfast staple available on the menu. Your pup will enjoy the view and possibly even a few bites of your breakie.

Lunch: Riviera Martinique, Mgarr, Malta

Another beach spot that may be a challenge to get to but is well worth the trip. Probably one of Malta’s most beautiful beaches with a decked out restaurant open for lunch and dinner. You and your furry friend can choose to sit at the far end of the lido for an uninterrupted view of the picturesque bay. The food’s great too.

Dinner: Pepe Nero, St Paul’s Bay

Yet another sea-view but so worth the visit. As you and your doggo sit and enjoy a freshly prepared pizza, gaze upon the natural beauty of St Paul’s Islands while the pink sunset fills the baby blue sky. Watch the last fishing boats make their way to shore, their headlights flickering in the distance.

Drinks: Xerri il-Bukkett, Mgarr, Gozo

No list is complete without a Gozo mention, and what better spot to enjoy a view than Xerri il-Bukkett? Stare at Comino while your four-legged companion sits by your side and keeps you company. Share a few pints with some friends at one of Gozo’s top viewpoints.

Dessert: Fontanella, Mdina

Stray away from the sea and head to the great old capital of Mdina to one of the city’s finest establishments - Fontanella. Grab some chocolate cake but hold back from sharing with Lassie this time, chocolate is not a dog’s best friend. Keep him cool with some water instead. Enjoy the view, the company and the cake!

There you have it! No more last minute changes, a superb selection for any occasion. Let us know of your top doggie hangouts with a view in the comment section below.
