Maltese roads will see an addition of 40 newly inaugurated Tallinja buses that will be able to carry an extra four million passengers each year. Thanks to these buses' addition to the fleet, 69,000 trips for various Tallinja routes around Malta and Gozo will be added.
The fleet now consists of 435 buses, according to Transport Minister Ian Borg. According to reports, the minister has said that these new buses are among the cleanest on Maltese roads, operating with euro6 engines. It was also announced that the Malta Public Transport will be removing 10 old buses from its fleet.
This will help in making the local bus service more efficient for the thousands of passengers who travel daily by bus. In fact, just last year Tallinja carried 36 million passengers, amounting to around 150,000 people every day. Damn!
Works are also in the pipeline to offer the service free of charge to senior citizens.
