In a thrilling showdown last Sunday, Sampdoria's U-17 squad secured a remarkable victory in the highly anticipated Genoa derby, fuelled by the stellar performance of rising star Lexine Farrugia.

Lexine, hailing from Malta, exhibited her skill on the field by netting two crucial goals, ultimately clinching a 2-1 triumph for Sampdoria.

The young prodigy's emergence in the U-17 ranks comes amidst Sampdoria's participation in the Scudetto play-offs, where every match is laden with significance and intensity.

Having debuted for the U-17s just the previous weekend, this young athlete left an indelible mark by notching a goal in a 4-2 victory over Torino, signalling her arrival as a force to be reckoned with.

As the Scudetto play-offs progress, Sampdoria finds themselves with two more pivotal encounters against Bule’ Bellinzago and Rhodense, with their sights set on securing a coveted quarter-final berth.

Initially part of Sampdoria's U-19 setup this season, Lexine made waves in the league with standout performances, notably finding the net against Italian football giants Juventus and Inter.

Moreover, Lexine has already tasted the intensity of senior football, making her debut in a Coppa Italia clash against perennial powerhouse Juventus.
