Wow! Over a tonne of marine and land waste removed during Żibel clean-up in Gżira
Around 70 volunteers joined forces!

Around 70 dedicated volunteers joined forces with the team at Żibel for another successful Saturday clean-up in Gżira, demonstrating once again the power of community action in protecting Malta’s environment.

The group, made up of divers, land volunteers and sorting teams, worked tirelessly throughout the morning, collecting and carefully sorting an impressive 1,126.96 kilograms of land litter and marine debris.

The diving volunteers were fully equipped thanks to the support of Dive Systems - Malta, enabling them to safely recover a significant amount of waste from the seabed. Their efforts helped remove debris that would otherwise continue to harm marine life and coastal ecosystems.

After several hours of hard work, participants were rewarded with well-deserved ftajjar, giving volunteers a chance to relax and celebrate the impact of their efforts. A well-deserved treat!

Thank you for your hard work, Żibel!
