Windy arrival! 36 hatchlings from turtle nest 6 brave strong winds at Gozo’s Ramla Bay
The turtles seemed ready to face the turbulent seas currently surrounding the island

Ramla l-Hamra Bay in Gozo saw its second hatching in dramatic weather, after the hatching of Nest 3 at the same bay during the thunderstorm two weeks ago, 36 hatchlings from Nest 6 braved the strong winds and rough seas currently hitting the beach and began to emerge last night just past 8pm.

Nest 6 was laid on Sunday 28th July and volunteers noticed the pipping process preceding hatching began to take place 9 days ago. The nest will continue to be monitored for more hatchlings over the next couple of days.

Well done to all the volunteers for their attentive care in this remarkably busy turtle season!

Have you spotted any of the turtle nests?
