A mesmerising throwback photo has resurfaced on Facebook group ‘Old Photos of Malta’, offering an interesting glimpse into history. This snapshot was posted with an open-ended question for commenters to guess where the photo was taken.

The post was quickly met with a number of comments saying that the photo showcases the iconic Xewkija Gozo church in its embryonic stages of construction, likely dating back to the 1960s.

The photo not only serves as a reminder of the architectural marvel of its time but also evokes a sense of nostalgia, transporting viewers to an era of simpler yet ambitious endeavours.

Standing majestically, the skeletal structure of the church emerges, revealing the meticulous craftsmanship and dedication poured into its creation. In front of the church, the photo also features an elderly man, working in his field, with a horse nearby.

This throwback photo not only immortalises a landmark in its infancy but also honours the enduring legacy of those who toiled to bring it to fruition.
