Days of old! Charming photo shows the joy of a beach day at Ramla l-Hamra in Gozo
A different kind of beach day!

A photo shared by the National Archives of Malta depicts quite the picturesque scene in Gozo.

Taken quite a number of decades ago, the shot shows what a typical summer beach day consisted of at Ramla l-Hamra Bay in Gozo.

They used to set up tents to create the ideal amount of shade. A number of carts can even be spotted across the beach. Perhaps they took their horses for a swim?

The photo is part of the Guido Stilton Collection and was shared as part of the 35th anniversary celebrations of the Gozo Archive.

If you wish to learn more about Malta’s way of life from days gone by, an open day is being held on Sunday, 21st April at the National Archives building in Rabat, Malta. Here visitors can get the chance to explore more of Gozo’s archival documents and photos.
