This achievement marks a defining moment for Maltese hip-hop and breaking.
Street Elements Malta have officially carved their name into the international dance scene, achieving an unprecedented milestone at the prestigious Rotation Dance Exchange 2025 in Manchester.
The team returned home with four remarkable titles, including two first-place victories, along with multiple Top 8 placements. This achievement marks a defining moment for Maltese hip-hop and breaking, showcasing the island’s rapidly rising talent on a global platform.
At just 12 years old, Jerome ‘Bboy Jerri’ Fenech delivered a historic performance that surpassed all expectations. Coached by Liston Bongailas and Charline Grange, Jerri secured first place in both the Breaking Beginners and Breaking Intermediate categories, becoming the first Maltese breaker ever to win two first-place titles at the same international event.
His outstanding run didn’t stop there: he also placed in the Top 8 for Breaking, All Style, and Breaking Advanced, competing against dancers significantly older and more experienced. Remarkably, he achieved all this while managing an injury!
Thea ‘Curlz’ Abela also shone in Manchester, earning a Top 8 spot in the All Styles Battles. Her musicality, confidence, and dynamic presence highlighted the growing strength of female dancers emerging from Malta’s street dance community.
Street Elements also celebrated the efforts of three other young talents; Chanelle Abela, Gabriel Camilleri, and Kane Lee, who represented Malta with courage and dedication.
Founded by Charline Grange and guided by coach Liston Bongailas, Street Elements continues to raise the bar for youth dance in Malta. Their triumph in Manchester not only elevates the academy’s reputation but also reinforces Malta’s position on the European street dance map.
Well done!
