Malta is heading into a noticeably colder stretch of weather this week, marked by lower temperatures, brisk winds, and several bouts of thunderstorms.
According to the latest six-day forecast by Maltese Islands Weather, the islands will experience a clear shift from the mild autumn conditions that lingered earlier in the month to a more unsettled, winter-like pattern.
The week begins relatively calmly on Tuesday with partly cloudy skies and a high of 21°C, but conditions change quickly by Wednesday afternoon as isolated showers begin to move in.
By Thursday, temperatures dip significantly, with the minimum expected to feel as cold as 7°C due to the wind chill. This day also marks the beginning of more widespread instability, as isolated thunderstorms are forecast to develop across the islands.
The stormy conditions continue into Friday, again bringing isolated thunderstorms and rougher seas as winds strengthen from the west and northwest.
Maximum temperatures will hover below twenty from Wednesday onwards, while overnight lows remain on the chilly side, especially when factoring in the ‘real feel’ brought on by the stronger winds.
The weekend offers little relief from the cool, unsettled weather. Saturday is expected to bring morning isolated showers, while Sunday transitions back to partly cloudy conditions. Still, temperatures remain low with Sunday’s minimum dipping to around 13°C - proof that the cooling trend isn’t letting up just yet.
With moderate to rough sea conditions, increased rainfall risk, and persistent winds, the week ahead signals the first real taste of late-autumn weather for Malta.
Get ready for cooler nights, keep umbrellas handy, and expect the occasional rumble of thunder as this chilly, storm-prone pattern continues.
