Malta enjoyed a landmark weekend on the international badminton stage, securing four medals across senior and junior competitions. The standout result came from Samuel Cassar, who captured a prestigious bronze medal at the Peru International Series 2025, held in Lima under the Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Circuit.

Samuel, teaming up with American partner Enrico Asuncion in the Men’s Doubles event, delivered an impressive run to the semi-finals. Their strong showing not only earned a podium finish but also valuable ranking points, underlining the athletes’s growing presence on the international circuit.

Fellow Maltese player Matthew Abela, competing alongside Maxim Grinblat, also made his mark by reaching the quarter-finals in Lima. Matthew’s consistency was further highlighted after his recent bronze medal at the Costa Rica Future Series, extending Malta’s run of success in the Americas.

The medal haul was matched in Europe at the 12th Li-Ning Zagreb Youth Open in Croatia, where Malta’s rising stars proved their potential. Jade Bartoli secured bronze in the Girls’ Singles U11 category, showcasing her composure on the international stage.
