Well done! Over 690kg of waste removed from St Paul’s Bay during Żibel’s latest clean-up
That’s what we call a weekend well spent!

Francesca Vella

The NGO Żibel is back at it again, and this time their clean-up efforts made a serious dent in the waste polluting St Paul’s Bay. Held over the weekend, the latest initiative saw 693.1kg of waste removed from the area – with the help of 57 incredible volunteers both on land and underwater.

As always, the underwater team went all in, surfacing a range of bulky items from the seabed, including ladders, tyres, wooden debris, and more.

Here’s a breakdown of what was collected: 124.5kg of plastic, 9.2 kg of glass, 60.8kg of rubber, 301.6kg of metal, 14.9kg of wood, 33.6kg of cloth, and a whopping 257.8kg of mixed waste.

It’s thanks to this kind of teamwork and community spirit that Malta’s coastline is getting a little cleaner each month, one dive at a time. Next time you're on a beach, give a helping hand by safely collecting any rubbish you see around you - every little helps!

Well done to everyone involved!
