Well done! Maltese young sailors make waves at Opening Regatta in Slovenia
Among other results, three sailors secured spots in the Gold Fleet!

The MYSC Optimist team put on a stellar performance at the Optimist Opening Regatta in Portorož, Slovenia, competing on the same waters that will host the 2025 World Championship. Among more than 240 international sailors, the Maltese team showcased remarkable skill, dedication, and sportsmanship.

The team’s impressive results speak for themselves! Three sailors secured spots in the Gold Fleet, two sailors competed fiercely in the Silver Fleet while another two sailors earned their place in the Bronze Fleet.

Under the expert guidance of Coach Manuel Hormiga and with the support of Team Leader Fiona Borg, these young athletes proved their potential and determination on the international stage. Their success reflects the hard work and preparation that went into this prestigious event and hints at even brighter achievements ahead.

This strong showing in Portorož marks an exciting milestone for the team as they continue to train and compete at the highest levels. The experience gained racing on the future World Championship course will undoubtedly fuel their ambitions and sharpen their skills.
