A new wall has been completed at Fond Għadir in Sliema as part of a project to address unstable rock and strengthen it against sea erosion.

The intervention by the Public Works Department followed a safety issue that Sliema Mayor John Pillow says had persisted for 14 years, with the local council repeatedly calling for work to be carried out.

The project involved removing unstable rock that protruded towards the beach and posed a potential danger to the public.

A new Maltese stone wall has now been constructed as a continuation of the existing British-era structure, with concrete and steel added behind it to provide greater resistance against rough seas.
