WATCH: Positivity & optimism - PM Robert Abela reflects on Friday's ease in measures
More restrictions were eased this Friday.
Prime Minister Robert Abela shared a positive and optimistic attitude following Friday's ease in measures.
"I'm positive, optimistic but objective and factual," the Prime Minister said during a televised interview this morning. Expressing his satisfaction at witnessing Malta heading once more towards normality, he observed that: "A common sentiment on Friday was of relief."
Speaking about the economic consequences of the pandemic, the Prime Minister said: "Health and economy are two things that are believed not to be compatible but they are in fact complementary. Without good healthcare you cannot have a strong economy. And without a resilient economy you cannot have a good healthcare system."
Commending the local health authorities' work for steering Malta away from tragedy, the Prime Minister continued: "The success is one that cannot be diminished when you compare it to other countries. The recipe of success was in the preparation. This effected why we’re on the forefront of easing measures, because we started early and we controlled the spread very well, so the moment we killed the spread, we were able to ease measures."
Expressing his joy at seeing Valletta's cafeterias and restaurants open once more for business, Prime Minister Abela confirmed more restrictions could be eased in the coming weeks which could eventually lead these establishments to operate at full capacity.
