Sweet nostalgia! Photo taken in 1963 shows Maltese children playing in Rabat playground
A trip down memory lane!

Emma Galea

A photo shared by Jesmond Bonnici on ‘Old Photos of Malta’ will surely unlock a sweet memory for many!

The shot, taken in 1963 shows a couple of kids playing at the Rabat playground and sliding on those old metal and high slides.

Even though the photo might have been taken over 60 years ago, the slides continued to be popular for many decades, only having disappeared from the playground scene a few years ago.

Many will definitely remember how fun it was going down these slides! Many might also remember the painful burns such slides would give them after using them during a hot day!

The slides have likely disappeared from Malta’s playgrounds for being too unsafe for children but the memories for many remain!
