A new Centre of Information, Culture and Education has just been inaugurated at the Station Garden in H’Attard.

The new centre includes a library, reading zones and other facilities for the enjoyment and convenience of the public. It was built entirely from limestone and has wooden and aluminium apertures.

Additionally, a metal canopy was also installed to commemorate the building of the H’Attard station. The station was built in the exact same place where the garden and centre stand today.

A compartment was also built in which the model train, resembling that which passed through the station, is kept.

The new centre, as well as the garden, are aimed at providing all future generations all the necessary information and history about the train line that once passed through this very garden.

H’Attard station was one of the stations forming part of the Malta Railway which ran between 1883 and 1931 and operated between Mdina and Valletta. There were six different stations along the route and H’Attard was one of them.

Unfortunately, the majority of the station was completely destroyed during World War II but such a garden and centre will continue commemorating the history of the the railway.
