Claire Tonna’s highly individualistic sound blew audiences away last Saturday at the Tour Music Fest final in Rome, Italy, earning the musician a very well-deserved win in the singer-songwriter category.

The singer-songwriter was visibly moved when the presenter pronounced her name and revealed the amazing prize she was being bestowed with: “So we’re going to present you with a scholarship to the summer songwriting workshop at Berkley in Boston for this coming summer,” the presenter said.

She continued by adding further details: “At the songwriting workshop we have about 350 songwriters who come together to learn all about the aspects of songwriting and to collaborate with each other, learn to produce, learn about business and we’re really looking forward to having you with us.”

Claire confirms that the experience was inimitable, from the venue to the highly professional organisation and the warm environment that welcomed them: “All participants where incredible outstanding artists with humble personalities and there was such a great feeling between everyone involved!” she enthused.

Speaking about her win, Claire asserts that everyone in her category was deserving of a win. Although winning proved a nice addition, the singer-songwriter reveals that her aspirations for the competition went beyond winning the gold: “I was so touched that my song did its mission to touch people’s hearts by making them hear who they really are, human.”

Now preparing for an exciting summer in Boston, Claire’s excitement is contagious: “I am so grateful and thrilled with all that is happening in this exquisite journey!” she says.

Two other Maltese representatives joined Claire in the finals, with both Francesca Sciberras and Alexia Micallef performing exceptionally well in their respective categories.
