WATCH: Maltese designer’s Miami-inspired livery catches RedBullRacing F1's attention
‘If only they had given me enough heads up to head to Miami!’

Aiming for the stars and taking risks can often lead to unexpected opportunities, as Philip Sultana recently discovered when he answered a call for a design submission from RedBullRacing F1.

Philip, an avid fan of the sport and had driven a single seater at the team’s F1 racetrack before, knew that he could not pass up this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

‘I went full geek mode’, says Philip in a recent Instagram post, ‘as I aimed to merge the technical and visual elements of F1 to create a livery that was both creative and grounded by the technical mastery behind the RB19’.

While his livery wasn't chosen to be featured on the car, Philip received an unexpected surprise from RedBull - they wanted to showcase the design at the race weekend in Miami.

‘If only they had given me enough heads up to head to Miami’, jokes Philip.

Despite not being able to attend the race weekend, Philip is ecstatic that his design has caught the attention of RedBullRacing F1.

The livery was inspired by the Miami sunset and the aerodynamics and vortices created by the sleek curves of the RB19 car.

‘The blue night sky represents the cool air, while the red hues of the Miami sunset depict the hot air generated by the RB power-unit. The two streams collide and create a spiralling effect, mimicking the energy of bulls locking horns in the RedBull logo’.

The final result that Philip created is a livery that embodies the core values of RB F1 - movement, speed, and energy.

By using the brand's colours, Philip was able to keep the car easily recognisable on the track while still giving it the feel of a special edition livery that’s not easily missed.

This experience is the perfect example that shows that taking a risk and putting yourself out there can lead to unexpected opportunities, and that even if you don't achieve your initial goal, your hard work and dedication can still be recognised and appreciated.

Well done, Philip!
