WATCH: Local Kayaker encounters loggerhead turtle while exploring Slugs Bay and Coral Lagoon
Nothing quite like an early morning kayak ride...

In his latest vlog, local explorer, Angelo Caruana explored the stunning Slugs Bays and Coral Lagoon along the northern Maltese coast.

Today’s vlog was however a bit different as instead of kayaking by himself, Angelo was joined by Malta’s very own ‘Get out and Kayak’ group.

They started off from Ghadira and made their way to Slugs Bay as the sun was rising at 6:30 in the morning.

The sea was a bit rough but they still managed to arrive to Slugs Bay where they stopped for a short break to admire the magnificent views.

On their way from Slugs Bay to coral lagoon, they encountered quite the surprise when they saw a loggerhead turtle swimming right next them at the surface.

Apart from the turtle, Angelo also came across a lot of caves along the cliffs but unfortunately could not go inside them to explore as the sea was a bit too choppy, making it unsafe.

Eventually, they made their way to the marvellous coral lagoon. It proved quite difficult to enter due to the windy weather but it was definitely worth it for the extraordinary view with its clear blue water.

The coral lagoon also sports many caves and Angelo decided to enter one of them with his kayak. It was very dark and narrow but nonetheless incredibly wonderful to look at.

Have you ever visited the coral lagoon?
