WATCH: Ghadira Bay is unrecognizeable after freak hail storm hits Mellieha

Parts of the Maltese islands, predominantly Mellieha, were surprised yesterday with a freak hailstorm that saw roads, cars and balconies covered in white. Some took this as an opportunity to venture outside and build mini snowmen, but the most shocking scene happened in Mellieha's Ghadira Bay where the sandy beach was completely hidden by a layer of ice.
