We’re an animal loving bunch and this cutie stole our hearts. Everyone meet Dookie! This sweetie is an African Grey parrot who loves to sing a dance, entertaining his fam. And this video proves just that.

We spoke to his mama, Diane who told us all about him. “We booked Dookie while he was still an egg and he was born to a local certified breeder on the 28th of February 2018,” she shares. “When he was old enough, we brought him home. He immediately started proving to us that he was very intelligent. At just 3 months old he said his first “hello” which sounded weird but as months went by, he started to increase his vocabulary and his words were clearer.

“As a breed they are a bit phobic and that requires a lot of patience. He knows our daily routine by heart, like in the morning as we wake up, he greets us with Bongu, trid kafe Diane? Te Fuzzy? (my husband),” Diane shares. He even makes different sounds like a truck reversing, phone ringtones, and doors opening and closing.

“Dookie feels very much part of the family and he takes part in every conversation,” Diane notes. “For example, if I call my son, he responds instead, our dog doesn’t come anymore when we call her because he calls her so much during the day that now she got fed up!”

“What is different about him and what really amazes me is that he doesn’t only repeat words, he can honestly answer back. He really knows when to use his words.” He’s currently practicing his animal sounds!

Dookie is the best pal and makes sure he greets everyone. “Once I get back home, he asks me ‘Fejn mort Diane?’ (where did you go, Diane).  “He also asks where my husband is: Fejn hu l-Fuzzy? And if I tell him that he’s shooting he starts to make gun noises (my husband is a target shooter, not a hunter).”

“He loves to sing a lot and dance, I teach him seasonal songs like ‘Rudolph the red nose raindeer’ for Christmas, some festa music and Maltese folk music by whistling to him and he’s just a very quick learner because I never had a bird before and I am surely no expert.” Well, Dookie is certainly doing well!

Watch him go!
