WATCH: Cars lifted out of Dingli Cliffs after lying abandoned for ‘over 30 years’
These efforts were done on the occasion of World Clean-Up Day 2022.
Dingli got some well-deserved TLC this past World Clean-Up Day – and it’s all thanks to a collaboration between the Dingli Local Council and Regjun Punent (the Western Region).
Sandro Azzopardi, President of Regjun Punent and former Dingli Vice Mayor took to social media to share a video of five abandoned cars getting lifted out Dingli Cliffs.
These, Mr Azzopardi said, had been lying abandoned at the bottom of the cliffs for ‘over 30 years.’
“Let’s keep working together to keep our environment cleaner and better than before,” the Regjun Punent President urged his audience.
These efforts were done on the occasion of World Clean-Up Day 2022.
A series of images of the operation, shared by Regjun Punent, shows how the cars had severely deteriorated and were heavily rusted. Nonetheless, a crane was needed to get the remains out of the cliffs.
Coincidentally, World Clean-Up Day also brought about the conclusion of the ‘Saving Our Blue’ campaign – yet another initiative aimed towards keeping Malta as clean as possible.
Throughout its four months of activities, ‘Saving Our Blue’ managed to collecting a whopping 15 tonnes of waste.
Well done to all involved!
