Take note! Red Tower in Mellieħa to close temporarily for essential maintenance works
The tower will be closed to the public from the 8th to 15th June.
Visitors planning to explore the iconic Red Tower in Mellieħa are advised that the historic landmark will be temporarily closed to the public from 8th June to 15th June to allow for essential maintenance works.
The closure has been announced to facilitate routine upkeep and preservation efforts aimed at ensuring the continued safety, accessibility, and conservation of one of Malta’s most recognisable heritage sites. Regular maintenance is vital to protect the tower’s structural integrity and to preserve its historical significance for future generations.
Also known as St. Agatha’s Tower, the Red Tower stands prominently on the Marfa Ridge and is a popular attraction for both local and international visitors. Renowned for its distinctive red façade and panoramic views of Malta’s northern coastline, the tower plays an important role in the country’s cultural and historical landscape.
During the maintenance period, public access to the site will not be permitted. Visitors are therefore encouraged to plan their trips accordingly and consider visiting other nearby attractions until the works are completed.
The Red Tower is expected to reopen on 16th June, following the completion of the scheduled maintenance programme.
