Well done! Team Malta continues rise on international artistic swimming stage in Spain
Malta’s artistic swimming squad produced a number of outstanding results at the fourth stop of the Artistic Swimming World Cup in Pontevedra, Spain, showcasing the nation’s growing strength on the international stage.
Leading the way was Zea Montfort, who set a new Maltese national record and personal best in the Women’s Solo Free competition. Her score of 214.3188 points earned her an impressive 13th-place finish among a strong field of competitors.
The young star continued her excellent form in the Women’s Solo Technical event, recording 211.6166 points to place 12th overall. This achievement represents the highest-ever finish by a Maltese athlete in the Solo Technical category at a World Cup event.
In the Women’s Solo Free competition, Valentina Marchi also delivered a solid performance, finishing 22nd with 182.5363 points.
Emily Ruggier impressed in the Women’s Solo Technical event, securing 18th place out of 29 athletes with a score of 198.7050 points.
Both Valentina Marchi and Emily Ruggier were accompanied by Coach Laura Marquez throughout the competition, while Zea Montfort continues her preparation and development under the guidance of National Team Coach Michelle Hubner.
These results reflect the steady progress of Malta’s artistic swimming programme and the dedication of the athletes and coaching staff.
